Aquatopia

Just wondering if there are any Afra's similar to these ones in NZ ??

Also can be seen on the following page;-

And this strain is quite nice too;-

It says on the cichlid forum they get to about 3" so I thought they might be a nice alternative to demasonis. Comments or advice would be welcome.

All I can say is I wish! I have and breed afra they are awesome fish but they are none of the strains that you have posted :(

Also they get bigger than dems and are typical mbuna so would do better in bigger tanks than dems although you may get away with a colony in a 4fter.

I just made a list of what we can get through wholesale, and you posted this.

As ryan said, not available.

Bugger ! So, given Afra's are allowed, is it just that these strains are just not found much ? I mean, if specifically asked, could the wholesalers bring them in ?

WHY is it the fish I choose are always expensive or unavailable !?

Thanks Ryan. do you have any pics of the ones you have ? Which strain are they ? What, in your opinion, makes them awesome :) Im always interested to know what it is that people specifically like about their fish :P

There are some pics of my big male, I just think they are a really cool blue and have a white tinge to the dorsal fin, they also have nice long ventral fins.. I have no idea what strain they are but they match afra that I have seen on the net they breed true and that is what I purchased them as from a reputable source so I am not naming them any further.

Yes plenty of people sometimes get a random "blue zebra" that comes out looking like them but they only get 1 in 100 the others are all sorts of other randoms that are throw backs to whatever else was crossed when they were started..

Afra are not allowed but zebra are so it is possible that one day we may see some of those afra come into the country, only time will tell.
