xxdarnixx
need more space!!!! my fish breed faster than i can sell them lol, does anyone know how well bettas cope in unheated water? ive heard they dont need it but i would feel mean i have my guppys in coldwater as they seem to be fine and are busy filling it up lol
Morcs
Bettas do not like cold water at all - cold as in cold water out of the tap. Your average room temperature water they can deal with, so when you get the cold water out of the tap, let it sit for a while.
SamH
They can SURVIVE at room temperature but will not THRIVE at it. They become more susceptible to diseases at the lower temps. 24-28 is a good temp for them.

SamH
A popular method of seperating the males is to put them in soda bottles inside a larger aquarium. Just drill a few holes in them for water flow and pack in as many as you need/can fit. Then use a single heater to heat all the water. Aquatopia
If they are breeding faster than you can sell them and stocking density is a problem why not reduce your price or give some away ? Tried selling them to your LFS ? Often if you take payment in store credit you can build up a nice sum to purchase that extra setup you need
xxdarnixx
ooooooooooh that store credit a good idea, yea i do give emaway lol cheers for that
Nymox
Careful with drilling holes in any bottle to keep fish secure, the drill leaves burrs that can be quite sharp, I had my female fighter split her fin this way, Been using a soldering iron with much more success, But this method works well, if you notice the fish looks stressed in the bottles, cover 2/3 's the way around, so they have a space to escape the eyes of the other, perhaps more dominant fish.
