guppygal
Hi everyone IM interested in finding a reliable guppy breeder who can sell me some gorgeous guppies. Id like some more cobra tails, tuxedos and ribbons but can't find them at my local pet shops. Id also like to add different colours to my tank as the guppies that our local pet shop stock seem to be mainly orange or yellow tails. Thanks for the help
guppygal
I should add I have platys and bristlenoses in my tank but would be interested to hear what other people have in their tanks with their guppies so I can get a good mix of fish
aquadude
Hi Guppygal & Welcome I too have a great interest in guppies but dont have any fancies I have a 2 tropical tank set up - one small one as a nursery that has my new double breeding trap ( with own filtering system ) and the community tank with 1 Bristlenose, 1 Angel fish, 2 Danios, 1 female platy,1 sunset platy, around 6 female guppies , 3 male guppies Over the last fortnight got 42 guppy fry from 3 "mums" Just a suggestion...via user control panel ( I think ) state what part of Nz are you from. guppygal
Hi aquadude Thanks for the reply. Ive just managed to rescue 3 baby guppies and 2 platys the rest have been eaten, I didn't even know my platys were pregnant. Wow 42 fry thats amazing. I haven't had much success breeding guppies they seem to retain they fry for too long then they end up with a bumbp in their spine and die. Which is a real shame. Hope you get lots of awesome colours form your babies.
aquadude
The reason why I put the new breeding trap in the nursery tank is that the slots on the bottom of the breeding trap the fry was getting through when I had it in the community tank. To me guppies are the great tropical fish especially as a beginner
alanmin4304
Other fish like angels are pretty good at sucking the babies through the holes in those traps.
