aquab
I've just ventured into the world of siamese fighters and my new boy is making huge bubble nests!! 3 in the last 4 days!! Am just wondering if i should get him a female for company or just leave him too it if i'm not ready for him to be a father!
BikBok
he doesn't need to have a female . mine blows bubble nests too but i don't put a female with him. There's a few bits and pieces you need to know if you want to breed them.. but the experts here will help you out.
SamH
He has no need for a mate, many of them don't get along with other fish let alone a fish of their own species. It usually ends in tears both in the fishes fins and in the keepers eyes.
Ashzbetta
bubble nests are a sign of your fighter being happy, dont worry about getting a female yet or breeding, just wait till youve had more experience with keeping him, and well done for keeping him so happy, 3 nests in 4 days is one happy fighter
nycnlo
it depends if you want to venture into breeding or not put it this way .. can you cope with say 200 fry that need to be seperated? Lots of water changes and 4+feeds per day for first few months?? then daily WC after that for 4 months?? its alot of work and space.. males are more than happy with other fish for company.. ive finally put a Crowntail i bred in the community tank in out lounge.. and hes never looked happier swimming around with all the others.. flaring and chasing the gouramis ive even got two males in the tank.. the crowntail plus a halfmoon male.. and no fighting yet lol
