Gila_fish Posted October 15, 2004 Report Share Posted October 15, 2004 Hey im just curious if anyone ever heard of this type of fish...its called a Flower Horn or "cichlasoma sp" in latin, and perhaps in chinese "Luohan". Its a fish that has a big head and black markings in its body etc... A reply from any of you would be appreciated. They were very popular for a while with Asians as the markings on them were supposed to be lucky. As they grew (and often got vicious towards other fish) though their owners lost interest and parts of Asia now have a big problem with them breeding in the watrways and wiping out other species and decimating the plants. Midas Posted October 16, 2004 Report Share Posted October 16, 2004 I don't think that many Flowerhorns made it into NZ. They had some at Hollywoods in Auckland at one stage. Anyone know anyone that bought any? It seems strange that these fish could get imported to NZ, yet Trimac cichlids (which are one of the fish crossed to make the Flowerhorn hybrids) are not imported.
