jc360
Im wondering about the need to establish these parameters. I have just got a test kit and tested my tap waters KH, the solution drop is supposed to turn blue. So the first drop went in and stayed yellow. This means that the town supply is less than 1 degree dKH??? or am i doing something wrong? Are these test results common amongst others in Tauranga, Otumoetai??? suphew
Depends on the brand of your test, but usually with the drop in tests you would keep adding drops until the colour changed (to blue) the number of drop would be the Kh of your water. Although it is possible you have tap water with a very low Kh, if your supply is rain water then it will be low.
Zev
I have a Sera kit that goes yellow with the first drops, and you keep adding the drops and swirling the vial and counting them as Suphew says, until it goes blue.
sharn
For your kit Jc that is correct, your water is less than 1dkh (according to the test anyway), you have the API brand correct? Te Puke and i think Welcome Bay can also experience the same probs. Bird grit fixed my kh and only raised the ph a fraction.
