Most people use sand as they like to dig in it and spit it around the place (they will still happily dig in gravel) and it is easy to find sands that buffer the water like coral sand etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

spoon Posted August 12, 2009 Report Share Posted August 12, 2009 your water will be the same as my water africans will survivve in it but more buffering is neede to bring it up to a more acceptable level i have some of the fine dark grey gravel i have in my cichlid tank left you can have it if you want it will help with buffering , but i suggest you go to redwood and buy a bag of calcite or a few bags of marine mix then you should be sweet Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
