AquaVitamins
Heya, i have read about filters running best when used in sync with other filters, eg UG and HOB I have an internal filter Atm for my 60L tank, but im wanting to get another filter to run with it. Does anyone have any suggestions for which type and brand of filter i should get? Thanks
suphew
IMO you can't go past a canister filter
ryanjury
Canister filters are awesome but it is probably an overkill for a 60L tank What are you trying to achieve by the filter being "better" do you want it to remove more crud from the tank or allow you to put more fish in the tank? suphew
Overkill maybe, but you can't over filter so that's not really a problem. The only disadvantages I can think of are the extra space required outside the tank, and the initial outlay to buy. Some of the advantages are, far longer periods between cleaning, more stable water, can be used on upgraded tanks, very little to see inside the tank, flexibility in terms of media, often quieter, greater capacity for changing bio-loads. phoenix44
yeah, cannisters are definitely the way to go. and that way you aren't limited to the extent you are with internals when you do upsize. are you likely to get a larger tank in the near future? If so get a cannister, and then you can run it on there; and have the flexibility of knowing that your 60L tank can be used as a fry/fish growout tank.
