AquaVitamins
Hey, I have just re,re-done my tank ( again ) and i have added a really cool piece of driftwood, But it takes up 40% of the tank. I was wondering if having this large bit of wood might kill my neons, because it drops the PH. I also heard that neons will die if the PH suddenly changes, but if the change is more gradual they will be fine. Does anyone know if the wood will slowly drop the PH or quickly ..?? I acually enjoy it. But 2 days ago i did a 50% WC so i guess i would need to wait awhile before the next one, Right?

whetu
In all likelihood the neons will LOVE the driftwood in their tank. It shouldn't change the pH very fast (unless it is rotting) so it will drop slowly to a level where the neons are very happy. A bit of tannin-stain in the water will also be great for the neons and make their colours really stand out. :bounce:
Dave+Amy
usually driftwood lowers pH but most fish especially Neons which are from S. America will love a lower pH anyway
