BRACKISH TANK

Recommended Posts

Well I don't know where to put this.. fresh or salt? So I'll leave it here :)

Soon I'm going to empty out my 120 litre tank and start a brackish one. It's tall not long so cant do the whole mudskipper thing.

But I'm thinking maybe figure 8 puffers and bumblebee gobys? ( anyone other recommendations? )

Can anyone recommend how many of each I can have plz

Also any advise on how to properly set up a brackish aquarium, water parameters, substrate and rocks etc.. will be happily taken :D

Cheers :)

Get yourself a refractometer, they're the only way to accurately test your specific gravity. Should be aiming for 1.005 - 1.015 for F8s and BBGs. I've never kept them together, but lots of people do, so you should be alright.

F8s are pretty aggressive and need about 75 litres by themselves. You're best keeping 1 f8 and maybe 4 - 6 BBGs. Puffers and BBGs are sensitive to nitrates, so you should keep them under 10ppm. They'll also need to go into a fully cycled tank.

Mix the salt in the water and leave it mixing with a power head for 24hrs.

There are some BW plants you can get which both the BBGs and puff will appreciate. BBGs like small caves to live in, so try some cockle shells.
