sandysme
I am wanting to know what is the biggest best internal filter, and what size tanks they go up to without using a external...
phoenix44
they are so expensive - that you are definitely better off getting a cannister filter cheaply. internal filters can cost upto and over $200.00 in some cases!

phoenix44
   Sorry, as wonderfully happy as recommending an expensive internal filter would make most pet shop employees happy; you know I cannot do that, lol. No internal, no matter how wonderful the product may sound will ever be as good as a comparable external filter. But if you really want a good internal: then you will need at least 2 Fluval U4 - these are massive for internals and are rated at a max of 240L from memory. or the equivalent. phoenix44
what? you are choosing a small tank over a large one? why? keep the big one and keep it low stocked.
sandysme
yep lol
lmsmith
Why wouldn't you just get an external? You would be able to get a suitable external for $200.
sandysme
I had an external, i gave it to my son, its more about wanting to downsize to a tank with more length than height actually...
Aquatopia
I had an external, i gave it to my son, its more about wanting to downsize to a tank with more length than height actually... So why not just do that if thats what you want ? Then you could get a suitable internal filter, lol. But seriously for anything larger than a 3 footer (and in most cases even for a 3 footer) an external is better than an internal and the choice of externals available for the same price as a decent internal makes it practically a no brainer. Why are you adamant about an internal out of interest ?
sandysme
Im not against externals, it is just how im feeling about the tank actually, I need to go smaller..
Aquatopia
Im not against externals, it is just how im feeling about the tank actually, I need to go smaller.. Is there any reason you would not consider a smaller tank but with an external still, or what size do u want to reduce to ?
sandysme
I want a 5-6ft in length, at the moment I have a very big and high corner set up as in my pics in my signature below...
