darkfur
I thought I would post this pic of one of my new bbgs - he has a face like a grumpy little ol man. Looks a bit nipped on closer inspection but I imagine he will do better with me than at the lfs
lmsmith
Cute! I have 4 of the little guys. You know they do best in brackish water, right? SG 1.
darkfur
yup! actually I have a post in one of the other parts of the forum, asking if anyone had the 'recipe' in tsp per litre. I have mollies in there too as I understand they are comfy in brackish too. They were all purchased from people/lfs's keeping them in fresh water so I guess I would have to ramp up the salinity slowly
spoon
1.005 isnt much to raise it by you could do that in a week i keep mine inbetween that and 1.010(i have a puffer as well . by the way that is a very good photo ive found mine really hard to photograph
darkfur
ty, i think I got lucky with the photo but it was just using a digital SLR on a macro setting and then cropping all the boring stuff out. Will get on to raising that salinity. These are good little fellows, someone has trained them to take flake and other non-live food. I just chucked in some biosuppliers community frozen tucker and the whole tank went mental. I particularly like watching them suck up the tubifex like spaghetti! yeh_buddy
I've got two of these little guys and I want MORE and MORE!! They are soooo cute I love em to bits. Mine seem to enjoy fresh water. I enjoy getting up in the mornings and hunting them down!
spoon
mine will take lil bits of flake but i wouldnt reccomend using it as a regular thing . i feed mine minikrill or daphnia and sometimes tubifex and bloodworms. they will start growing if you are feeding them right mine are about an inch long now
darkfur
yep I think the biosuppliers stuff will beat the flake hands down. Just added 1T of marine salt an hour ago, everyone seemed to like it

Just added 1T of marine salt an hour ago, everyone seemed to like it Glad to hear you know it's marine salt, you'd be surprised how many people think aquarium salt is ok. You'd be best buying a hydrometer so you don't add too much, and to keep up with evaporation.
spoon
a hydrometer is a good idea but dont be too worried about keeping it bang on the salinity you want .in a natural brackish enviroment the salinity changes all the time with tides etc ,as long as you keep it between 1.000 and 1.010 . but bare in mind salty water evaporates faster than freshwater and a full tank at 1.010 will quickly be 1.015 in a few days (tank volume dependant also)
lmsmith
I agree with spoon. It's a good idea to vary the salinity, that's what happens in the wild.
