Perpin
Hi guys and gals Where's the best place to buy thermostats. I have phoned around and they are incredibly expensive. The cheapest seems to be 90 dollars!!!! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

alanmin4304
You are going to have to pay over $100 to get one accurate enough I would think.
Insect Direct
you get what you pay for with thermostats as Alan has said and worth it for reptile eggs? sim - exoticpets on trademe sells thermostats, not 100 % accurate but not bad temp fluctuates a we bit not sure id use to incubate eggs of value but ok for insects, basking lights etc about 30-40 each i think if you want his email send me a pm
Perpin
I agree that you get what you pay for. I am just trying to get used to what things cost here in NZ. I used to make my own incubators in South Africa. The thermostats I got there were very accurate and cost me the equivalent of $15! Lol, just going to have to accept that they are costly here. Insect Direct
if your creative maybe have a look in electrical shop maybe use hot water cylinder thermostats...hmm maybe not but theres all sort of parts in electrical stores you just have to wire your self, the pricey ones are normally all ready to use, i reckon a digital thermostat would be worth bringing into the country if anyone wants to or knows where i can get them at a reasonable price
alanmin4304
Mine were love brand from Homershams in Christchurch. About $120 if I remember correctly. Hysteresis 1 deg C. They read the actual temperature and control it as well. Do a lot more functions than you need but all I could get with reasonable accuracy.
