Stella
What sort of eel? Native or otherwise? Native probably wouldn't like the bright lights required to grow plants, but look up floating plants and nitella or charophytes, which are an algae that looks very much like a plant and doesn't need much light. fishbreeder
i dont know what sort of eel, i got it from a pet store about 12 years ago. it has bumps on the nose and is a brown colour. thats all i know . would it be okay with the sand?? i dont think it would mind the lights, its got plenty of hiding spots and comes out more at night. could it still burrow in the sand if there are plants there? HaNs
Make sure the sand is not sharp It WILL dig into the sand, they love it. Plants WILL get dug up, though id try a reed/rush plant/s

Iv used builders sand for mine, though its hard to clean. It loved it. All plants need light, rush plants are hardy. Look at Japanese rush on trademe Looking at them makes me want to set up a tank with it
