Oscars and Eggs

Have posted this in another topic (cichlids) but will post here too  My Oscars (of which one is obviously female  ) have laid eggs overnight. They share the tank with a coule of plecos. Are the eggs safe? What is the gestation period? Any tips/tricks/hints? Should I be excited or is this a common enough event that usually ends in no babies? :o

they will hatch in about 3 days. If you want to keep the babies you will need to remove the eggs now, rock and all and hatch them in a small tank or container. If you leave the eggs with the parents they will surely be eaten soon after hatching
