Adrienne
Tonight while looking in my big tank in the lounge I discovered a 1cm rummynose. Given that the tank houses discus, rummynose, neons, cardinals, cory and bn and has just recovered from a huge ammonia spike that took out about 20 fish I am somewhat astounded that obviously one of my rummynose has bred in this tank. There appears to be only one young fish. I water change every 2nd - 3rd day at the moment and vacuum heavily as well as my filter has not yet re established itself as after the ammonia spike I had to completely clean it out. Is it common for these fish to breed in this sort of set up? I thought not.
TM
Sure, lots of fish will spawn like that. Most get eaten or eggs go bad.
Adrienne
mmm... I'm wondering if I should take the whole lot out and have a go at breeding them in their own tank. I have about 35 of them, I knew there was a mix of males and females but have no idea how old they were when i got them.
TM
Why not. Just take a pair out as needed.

Adrienne
I have 9 males and the rest are females, has anyone on here bred them and if so how did you go about it. I'll have to do some reading up first on the subject but may have a go as I have 3 - yes 3, empty tanks at the moment.
