whats the chances of ....

Tonight while looking in my big tank in the lounge I discovered a 1cm rummynose. Given that the tank houses discus, rummynose, neons, cardinals, cory and bn and has just recovered from a huge ammonia spike that took out about 20 fish I am somewhat astounded that obviously one of my rummynose has bred in this tank. There appears to be only one young fish.

I water change every 2nd - 3rd day at the moment and vacuum heavily as well as my filter has not yet re established itself as after the ammonia spike I had to completely clean it out.

Is it common for these fish to breed in this sort of set up? I thought not.

mmm...

I'm wondering if I should take the whole lot out and have a go at breeding them in their own tank.

I have about 35 of them, I knew there was a mix of males and females but have no idea how old they were when i got them.

Ahhhh....but if you did that, they won't breed for you...you know what they can be like!!!
