stargazer
well its been about 2 weeks now the ammonia and nitrite?, the one that comes after ammonia, are both zero. The nitrate? the last one in the cyce was about 60ppm, did a20% water change it is about 20 ppm. Am I doing right? I have 4 barbs in a 30 gal tank, someone gave me some filter media to speed up the process. Do you think next week would be ok to add either 4 tetras or a couple of cory cats? alanmin4304
Sounds like all is as it should be and adding more fish shold be OK. Is the tank planted?
stargazer
Yes the tank has 7 plants in it so far now some of the plants aren't doing so good. I'm going to add some more light and see what happens
whetu
Plants can take a while to get settled in a new tank - their roots will have been disturbed, and the water in a new tank is pretty sterile, with not a lot of micro-organisms or micro-nutrients needed for good plant health. Add a couple more fish, by all means increase the light (you can never have enough light IMO!) and continue in the way you have begun - with patience.
