Dixon1990
Mine breed, But i wouldnt say i breed them. All i do to help them breed is Clean the filter and do a waterchange once a month
axolotl-danio
So are you saying if a human does nothing to help them breed besides basic maintenance you cant say you personally bred them
lmsmith
'Breeding' in fishkeeping is doing some sort of specific and selective process to encourage reproduction. Having a tank full of boy and girl guppies doesn't make you a breeder, but selectively choosing what fish you are going to be breeding and choosing specific traits to breed makes you a breeder. axolotl-danio
So if i was to get a basic trio and let them breed on their own then selectively breed the offspring to a certain trait that would make me a breeder right. lmsmith
Sure. It doesn't mean you necessarily know what you're doing or that you'll be successful, or recognised by other breeders, but using a general definition of breeding, you would be. Dixon1990
I was actually considering doing this, Divide my 50cm tank into 3 and put the virgin females in one part, the really spotty males in one and the males with the least spots into the other, to try and get mainly black ones and really plain ones. David R
I'll say the same thing I said last time someone asked about "leopard fish"... Leopard danio? Leopard ctenopoma? Leopard pleco? Leopard grouper? Leopard shark? What the heck is a "leopard fish"?
Dixon1990
Phallaceros Caudimaculatus(sp?) i usually only use the term 'leopardfish' when im in the livebearer section.
