Clown Catfish

Hi all, please excuse first post nerves!

I have a Pleco in my fish tank that I bought as a Dwarf Clown a few years ago. I have been trying to find some information about it on the web and the closest I get is a Clown Pleco, on Planet Catfish, either an L206 or L104, going by the photo's.

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=734

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... es_id=1510

However the site states a size of 1000mm long and mine has stopped growing at approx 50mm.

The fish, Coco, has always been in a small tank and so may have affected his\her size too.

Any info/help about this fish would be useful.

Thanks.

ps: will see if I can get a photo Coco this week too.

Hi Sid,

its most likely to be a clown pleco, Panaque maccus, as this species is small and fairly readily available. I guess you could say its a dwarf species compared to some of the larger more common plecos such as redspots or goldspots. Not sure why it hasn't grown much as it wouldn't need a very big tank anyway. I assume you've had some bogwood in the tank for it to graze on as all Panaques need it in their diet. Although apparently some of the pleco wafers contain it.
