Severus
My favourite fish in my somewhat newly established tank is a redspot pleco. I've heard that they can grow to be quite large, and I was wondering what their approximate growth rate is. Also, recently he has actually been surface feeding on cichlid pellets- is this normal pleco behaviour?
kim
plecos grow fast for the first year then they slow down grow to about 10- 12inch very normal for them to eat from the top , i use blood worm cones abd they suck bloodworm out of them like a baby sucks its bottle
Ira
Assuming he's well fed and all, I'd estimate it'd probably grow about 5 inches the first year, 3 inches the second and another inch or two the third. Mine is about 3 years old and around 11 inches.
Doc Holiday
Red spots are the larger of the plecs as with my gold spot, I purchased mine just over 3 months ago, he was an inch long then and now he measures in at around 6 inchs. If they are feed well they will have quite a rapid growth rate.
