first time fish breeder

has any one got any tips on breeding silver hatchet fish also this is my first time breeding fish ever so what sort of equipment will I need and roughly how many fry should I be expecting for this sort of fish cheers

Are you sure they are silver hatchets and not common hatchets? they are two different species, and while the commons have been bred in captivity, I don't think the silvers have. Common hatchetfish is Gasteropelecus sternicla, silver hatchetfish is Thoracocharax securis .

they are definitly silver but never mind just thought I could give it a try

as I am very keen to breed some fish do you know of any fish that are fairly easy to breed?

All livebearers (guppys, platys, swordtails, mollys, leopard fish) breed easy. Also depending on what size tank you have you could breed Siamese fighters (awesome fish and heaps of colours). It's also cool to watch them build a bubble nest and the male wrappping around the female and raceing up and down the tank collecting the eggs. Or something that looks after it's fry like BNs, kribs and rams (some breed easier than others). Let us know what you like and we can help more
