Romeo
Or will their population just explode out of control, will they poison the tank, or are they poisonous themselves!? I have NO idea ;s! They're about 4-6mm long and I got them from a tropical fish tank that had been sitting for about a month with an inch of water. Cheers, Romeo
SpidersWeb
It's a common pond snail. They're quite good really. Don't eat plants, will eat most leftovers, if there is lots of food they'll breed, if not the population naturally lowers. Not poisonous. Live in cold or warm water. I used them in fry tanks a fair bit. If you don't like the look of them, they can be hard to get rid of. I usually leave them to it.
Romeo
Thanks for the advice SpidersWeb! I'll pop them in her tank and see how they go. If they do become a menace, how do we get rid of them?
Heir
There are several species of fish that eat snails and/or baby snails, also trademe often has aquarium snail traps. I have about 10 pond snails and 10 ramshorns in my coldwater tank and I can't seem to get them to breed.... There is also a product that kills snails and not fish.
