spoon
i got hold of some plants out of a small garden pond here in chch aparently the kids next door had put them there and they had grown out of control. they propagate by runners they kind of look like saggiteria or a really small val they are no more than 25cm tall max they intriging feature is that the tips of the leaves are round not pointed and some of the middle leaves spread out at the top kind of like a sword plant only smaller
alanmin4304
Got a pic? Do they have large easily observable cell structure and do the leaves have one vein or three? They are probably Sag as I don't think much else would survive the cold weather we have had. Are they emersed or submersed?
spoon
they are submerged pretty sure they have 3 veins im not sure wat u mean bout cell structure, they look exactly like my dwarf sag except bigger and with the weird shaped leaves and if they arent a bio security risk i have a bucket full
alanmin4304
Both Sag and E. tenellus have a widened leaf tip when grown emersed but only Sag submersed. E. tenellus has one main vein and Sag has three. The best way is to flower them and Echinodorus sp. have a bisexual flower (one flower that is male and female) and Sag has both male and female flowers. My guess would be Sagittaria subulata. alanmin4304
That is how it is when grown emersed (which it usually is commercially) I have S. microfolia emersed and it looks just like that but about 50mm.
spoon
hmm it was definatly grown submerged tho as it was in a pond. so we can say its just some kinda of saggiteria mite grow it to a better condition in my tank. ane 1 want ane i still have heaps
