SilverBlade86
How does one properly set up the substrate in his tank? I have heard about using Dalton's Aquatic Mix but am unable to find a price nor a shop in Christchurch that sells it (on the net anyways). TM
I have some if you can't find it anywhere else. I found bunnings, mitre 10 and placemakers did not have any or the staff had no idea where it was. There is a garden centre on Centaurus Rd that has it. I also used the Daltons pumice on my new tank. Zabman
I am in the final stages of setting up my planted tank. After reading various threads on here I decided to use just over an inch of Daltons aquatic mix on the bottom and a similar amount of Daltons propagating sand on top of it. You will definately need something on top of the Aquatic mix as it is essentially just clay! I would love to tell you how mine is going, but as I said, I have only just set it up - don't even have it fully filled as I need to get a brace replaced! If it helps, I got my Aquatic mix from Mitre 10 Mega and the propagating sand from Palmers plant place thingie
