Floater
I recently purchased a golden algae eater and it has developed some brown speckles on either side of his body near the top fin. It is very minimal at the moment, and I have been watching it carefully and it hasn't seemed to have increased in area or spread. I also have a golden bristlenose in the same tank and it doesn't seem to be exhibiting any similar signs. Both fish to be active and eating. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be and how to remedy it? Cheers, Scott
tHEcONCH
Give us a pic if you can, but are you sure it isn't just its natural colouration? Depending upon what species you have, it is quite natural to have some brown colouration.

tHEcONCH
Some fish change colour / pattern depending upon their surroundings and how they feel (the bars on Discus being the most obvious example).
