Firstly i am new to marine and just starting to set up a marine tank. I was wondering could you use a portable haogen floodlight and put a 70watt halide light bulb into it??? as the flood light takes a 118mm bulb and so is the 70watt halide bulb. Does anyone know if this will work?

No, that's like trying to run a metal halide by plugging it into your car headlight slot. Not going to work.

The halogens don't have a ballast, so don't even try it, it will end in exploding glass and tears.

What size tank are we talking about, and what colour temperature metal halide lamp?
