Jf2003
Hey guys, Im helping my mate move his new (to him) 7ft tank tomorrow, currently there is an oscar severum and a Plec in the tank. After the move he is going to be making it a (very large) community tank. My question is in regards to bacteria in the external filters.... Because the filters havent been cleaned out for approx 4-5 months we are going to do this. There is where i get a little confused...... Because we are cleaning the filters we would normally do this in tank water.... but am i correct in assuming its not going to matter because of the fact as soon as we start the filters on the fresh set up its going to wipe out the bacteria colony with the fresh water? (please let me know if this does not make sense...) thanks heaps
Ira
No, the fresh water won't wipe out the bacteria.
