Guest
Sometimes store brought ones just don't make it. it's ussually the male store brought ones aswell maybe you just need to get one from a breeder or ask the lfs when they got them cause if they're their to long the seem to die easier. Dixon1990
Were they in the same tank as the female when they died?
Adrienne
Hi nice to see you on this site. (You asked me a question this morning) Shop purchased fighters don't seem to be doing very well as of late. They are generally imports which come into the country, sit at the quarantine store for about 6 weeks (goodness knows what happens there), are sent to the shops and a few days later onsold to joe public. They don't seem to have a lot of immunity left by this time and I have heard a lot of people saying that they have died within days or a couple of weeks. Its probably better to buy from local breeders if you can. The fish will be younger and in the majority of cases properly fed and looked after. You are most likely doing nothing wrong. If you are wondering why your female is surviving - the bulk of these in the pet shops are NZ bred (usually locally).
