Guest
Well my fighters are at it again. The male has finnally decided to breed with her but he's having a bit of trouble wrapping around her  . If all goes to plan I should have a nest full of eggs by tonight :bounce: :bounce: . They're last batch of fry are growing great and are now eating microworms so hopefully the will start growing faster as I can't wait to see what fin types and colour they'll be :bounce: . I'll keep you posted on how they go.
Leroy
Wow you're going to have a heck of a lot of fighters for your first time! Hope you got the space for them all. Best of luck though! I'd recommend giving your current lot a mix of microworms and baby brine shrimp. The shrimp have a high protein % and have more nutrition in them than worms. As Fish Fingers said, decap brine shrimp is probably best, nice and easy to work with and no mess. Also, in response to your other post, as adodge said, there are a lot of factors that play a part into the growth rate. I have one fry who's massive compared to the rest, and already showing a nice double ray structure in the tail, while I have others who still only look 4 weeks old (This batch are around 9 weeks now) and seem to be struggling. Not sure if you've seen this chart before, but this is what a good growth rate of a betta is normally like. Could give you an idea at least.... http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/bettagrowth.html
Guest
Yeah I've seen that chart and it helped me to see if they are up to size but just wanted to see what everyone else thought they should be. I've heard of a few being really big than all the others. So far he hasn't quite worked out how to wrap around her which is anoying as he did it last time. he gets around her but he doesn't get her tight enough and she just falls out of his hold. Guest
Well thye're still breeding (he's finnally got wrapped around her). I don't think that many of the eggs will hatch as he wraps around her but she floats away and then drops the eggs  . So atleast this spawn will grow faster than the other one 8)
