Help my GBA

I have a male and a female GBA in a 2ft tank with a peice of wood and cave. There was no filter for the past week but I had a powerhead to keep the water moving while I replaced it.

I replaced it with a fluval 2.

Anyway my males left eye is HUGE and red! I thought pop eye but that is usually white... any ideas, cant get a pic as no camera.

it about 5mm growth and its a purple pink colour.

did a 75% water change today and feed them.

Filters don't just keep the water moving they help remove the ammonia so the fish aren't poisoned (very simply put)..

What are water conditions like (do you have test kits?) if not take some water to your LFS and get it tested, is the filter you just setup cycled?

Maybe you have had issues with an ammonia spike? Have you got any pictures of the wound? Be very careful doing 75% water changes as they can be very stressful and worse off for the fish better off to do more smaller ones unless thinks have gone really bad and your left with no other options.

yup yup i know, but I had no access to a filter at the time.

I have it going through a cycle but I am using a bio adgent that works really well, I have used it on all my tanks.

I only did a 75% because the water in my opinion was BAD!

I know it is pop eye now because of the white ring around the wound. How do I treat this? Regular water changes??? Keep the water healthy?
