bulldogod
there was a thread a while ago about a member using white sand? hows the cleaning going with it? Thinking of doing it with new tank?
tinytawnykitten
I just wrote a reply to this but it vanished so apologies if this ends up being a double post. Have a look towards the end of this thread... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/4-vt27 ... l?start=45 ... and the video's worth a watch. I have just put silica sand in my tank and it looks fantastic. The rinsing was a bit of a drag but it looks great. I got mine from a friend who got it from Placemakers.
David R
I put it in my 3' for about a week before taking it out, it looked great, but with my over-stocked tank and power-feeding the fish to grow them on faster I decided something easier to clean would be better. Looks great if you're willing to maintain it!
skaffen
I've got fine white quartz gravel (3mm) and it's staying pretty white. I vacuum once a week with the water change, that's about it for cleaning...

peanut2110
I used white aragonite sand in my tank for a few months but found it got a bit discoloured over time. When I set up my next tank I mixed white and black sand together which looks a lot tidier but might not be the look everyone wants...
