heater in sump/refugium

Just wondering as i setup my sump/refugium,

ive noticed that many people have said that it is a good place to put peices of equiptment that you dont want to see inc heater.

i will have two heaters in my total setup, 325lt main tank and an 80ltr(apprx) refugium/sump, now can i have both the heaters in the sump or will it make the water in the main tank to cool or do you need to compensate for cooling of the water on the way to the main tank by haveing a higher temp setting on the heaters in the refugium??

Sorry if some of these questions are seem trivial to some of you

Nope, just chuck both heaters in the sump, at the temperature you want the main tank to be at. The only way your tank may get colder than your sump is if your water turnover through your sump it EXTREMELY low ( less than 3 x per hour )

hey, i have a very similar setup to you, 500 litres all up (320 litre main tank and a sump and refugium of about 180 litres) Am only running 1 x 300W heater in my sump at the moment (will be putting a 2nd in shortly) and as Layton says, only a problem if the water volume being circulated is too low. Its recommended at LEAST 10 times the water volume per hour so you wont (or shouldnt) have a problem with this at all. It would only be a concern if the power went off for an extended period of time - and in a 300 litre tank I would say at least a day (depending on room temperature of course) before you'd need to start worrying!
