Dixon1990
Is there anything wrong with breeding say Blue Rams with Golden Rams and.or Balloons? As they are the same secies just line bred arent they so im not sure.
Adrienne
Blue and Gold do crossbreed - I have seen the result. To the amateur eye they looked just like blue rams but the honest breeder who showed me told me they were crossed and that they would never be onsold. IMO its hard enough to keep these alive as adults, and nearly impossible to raise the fry. Why would one muck around wrecking the true type of ram by creating other strains. There seem to be enough hybrids around anyway - so many that unless you are in the know you can pay very good money for rubbish.
Dixon1990
How can there be hybrids around when there the same species? I though Hybids were crossbreed between different species.
Adrienne
I suppose it depends on how you think of it a hybrid car - a combination of a petrol and an electric motor (still both cars) humans - a child with an asian mother and a european father (eurasian/mixed race) could be refered to as a hybrid but I wouldn't advise it. With rams IMO the blue and the gold are two different strains otherwise they would be the same colour wouldn't they? I don't know so maybe I need to be corrected on this but I would think they if they were the same strain then they wouldn't breed true. Don't know if I explained what I think very well.
