doch
is it better to have bio balls or similar media under water or above with water flowing over ?
doch
does anyone have any good pics of their sumps ?
Ira
Generally not completely submersed but with water flowing over them is best. The better airation=better bio filtration. But...I don't think it's a significant enough difference to make up for the fact that it's generally a lot easier to just have them submerged than to try and get them all nicely washed with water... David R
In the new sump I've got for my 160g I'm having both. I'll put up a pic tonight when I get home. More = better.

David R
Here ya go, its a temporary home for my two ornates that are off to Hamilton this weekend, so there's no media or pumps so I used my fantastic MSpaint skills to draw a diagram of how it will look once set up.
