Matthew
Just about anywhere in the gulf is firing well at the moment. I'm having huge success with the softbaits 3-4 lb pannies would be the average size with a few bigger ones thrown in for good measure. We picked up 18 one week ago with around 3 hours fishing, 7 today although I spent most of the day teaching two others in the boat how to fish. How often do you get out smcoleman
smcoleman
not to often once a fortnight if im lucky ive never tryed softbaits yet

Matthew
The snapper only looks big because he is holding it real close to the camera
Barrie
6kg calcutta 400 on an 6kg Albagraph rod... its light gear The snapper was 25lb and the next bait pulled a 44lb Hapuka. I tried to release the snapper but it was too far gone so off to the smoker for it the next photo is of a 32kg Hapuka. That Hapuka was the 2nd biggest as the other was caught by a first time Hapuka angler at 50kg and the third is of a marlin that was tag n released in the Eastern Bay of Plenty
