NPnewbie
Hello everyone I've got a question about starting a new tropical tank....I am so new that I dont' even know what some of the fish look like....beyond guppies, tetras and angels and those ugly algae eaters(which I beleive come in many forms) I konw I'd like to have some really colourful fish maybe a bunch of tetras and some angels. MY tank is going to be around 350litre roughly...using a cannister filter/pump. How many fish can I have in a tank this size? Is there a calculator for this somewhere on the net? I know everyone will have their preferences but I just need some ideas of what fish are good in a community tank etc. I've been reading all about how to start the tank ie cycling etc...Thanks in advance to everyone. Caryl
How many fish depends on what size they get, how much filtration you have, how often you do regular water changes and last, but not least, how established the tank is. In a tank that size, I would recommend dwarf gouramis. They come in a range of bright colours and are lovely to watch. A few bottom dwellers to help keep that level clean and the tank will look lovely. If you want a mix of different fish, check up on their requirements before you buy. Basically, don't put slow moving fish with long tails in with faster fish with short tails. The faster fish will nip their fins and get all the food first.
