cichlid7
i was thinking of catching her will she eat the fry after she spits them Do i put the male in there too
Dixon1990
I saw MarkLBs blue zebra things and female was in a 30Lish tank by herself with fry.
smidey
put her in a smaller tank alone, she won't eat them but the others will. what i do is strip them at around day 17. while holding they dont eat so can loose alot of condition, this is why i strip at 16-17 days so they can start eating that much sooner. then i put the fry into a breeding net in the main tank & watch them grow. MarkLB
I do like Dixon1990 says. Catch the female, put her in a tank of her own. She releases the fry and gathers them up again for a few days. During this time I feed brineshrimp. After shes released for the last time I leave her until shes had a couple of days of heavy feeding and then I put her back in the main tank and leave the fry in the smaller tank. ryanjury
All the advice above sounds good to me I strip at 2-3weeks also so the female doesn't get too run down but letting them spit in there own tank is also ok if you feed them up.. Also if there are other zebra's in the tank who is the father?
cichlid7
will a 25L tank do i already have one setup just waiting for fish
cichlid7
Also if there are other zebra's in the tank who is the father? there is only 2 red zebras in the tank and the other is a male so i guess he is the father  no other zebras in there but i have got to get some
ryanjury
Yep that would be fine Just make some hidey holes for her to chill out in. Do you know who the father is? Ie did you watch the spawning or only have one type of zebra in there?
MarkLB
I used to use a 23 litre with no worries. I have no substrate and do daily water changes to keep the floor clean.
MarkLB
no other zebras in there but i have got to get some I have Cobalts for sale......
ryanjury
Sweet as No need to produce anymore hybrids.. Cobalts are very nice zebra's I have just finally got mine breeding successfully as well which is cool. Good luck with the babies there is no need to feed them brineshrimp if you dont have any they go well on crushed flake also.
cichlid7
what about microworms do i still feed the female
ryanjury
Dont feed the female most females cant eat at all some learn to eat a little but it might encourage her to spit/swallow early.. Microworms are awesome its what I feed all of my babies and its soo much easier than hatching brineshrimp.

ryanjury
If they're swimming sweet as you are probably sweet as to strip her and let her recover, sometimes they hold them for so long by the time they release them the fry are half starved.. Anna_&_Chris
if she is in a dif tank she will realise that they will be safe and will spit them out. trust me she is probably starving herslf and cant wait to get rid of them yea and dont feed her she wont eat anyway.. just make sure you give her some food and rest after she spits out , in case the male will want to start breeding again.. i remember my male didnt let her have a rest, wanted to breed all the time..
