Caryl
A female guppy that isn't pregnant is a rare thing They can drop fry every 4 - 6 weeks. Transferring her to a breeding trap may cause her to abort. Better to leave her in the main tank with lots of floating fine leaved plants for the fry to hide in. OscarBoy
A female guppy that isn't pregnant is a rare thing I wonder how many times that has been said on this site
slevin12
there is a big guppy female but the males are only small but they have full colouration will she get pregnant from these yet, btw that other guppy is only a little bit bigger than a young just full coloured male
slevin12
oh and there is some java moss in there tank
Caryl
A female guppy can store sperm for many months and have several broods without being anywhere near a male. As long as they are big enough to do the job the current males can impregnate her (but she will already have stored sperm from the previous male(s). Keep her in the main tank then. Java moss is ideal for the fry to hide in
slevin12
wat does it mean when the females gravid spot starts getting little red bloodworm type things in it
Scuba Sam
Sometimes you can see the eyes of the babies in the female's stomach. Not sure that you see much red though (racks brains to remember last time saw babies inside female). Like humans and cats, it is amazing how young guppies can breed. Good luck!! georgeous
Maybe you could net out the babies once they are born and put them in the breeding trap rather than risk the Mum aborting?? Just an idea
slevin12
um lol mustve been imaging the red thingys cause theres no there now, but she has a real dark gravid spot, just moved her to the floating breeding thingy how do i know if she aborts? Scuba Sam
If she aborts you will see dead curled up babies lying in the breeding trap - if she doesn't eat them first. I haven't had much trouble with guppies aborting from putting them in a breeding trap, just swordtails, so fingers crossed... Sam
