Guest Anonymous
I noticed my Betta had a mould growth on his back fins this morning, grey in colour. I know how he got the growth (bad experience), but how can I get it removed.
Matt
Make sure his water is clean i.e. regular water changes. I know Melafix can be used as a wound treatment, but I have never used it for this purpose myself so I'm not sure how effective it is. I hope this helps, Cheers Matt
tamboe2001
melafix is great for bettas but use it at a reduced rate than what it says on the bottle and clean the tank about every 3 days til its gone
Alan
Catchya betta in a net. Keep it in the net out of the water. Put a drop of methalyene blue on the offending spot. Don't get any in the gill area. Keep the fish out for a minute or more Release into tank. Alan
tamboe2001
thats an interesting method there alan is that so you dont stain the stuff in the tank or just cos it works better that way?
Alan
Nope, it's so as the fish gets a hit with it neat b4 it waters down. As I said, put it straight on the injuries fungal growth. When the fish is returned to the tank, it starts watering down straight away. Alan.
Guest Anonymous
Well he died over saturday night, after trying the direct method, but I think he was passed the point of no return before applying the Meth Blue. Thanks Alan for your prompt reply.
Alan
Sorry he has gone to the big Aquarium in the sky. Pity he never got the 'hit' sooner. It works for me, (well my fish) unless, as you say, it was beyond help. Alan
