Caper
Can melafix be used in a tank that has corys? Caper
tHEcONCH
As far as I'm aware it should be OK, although there are better medications around anyway - what are you trying to treat?
SpidersWeb
Use it with caution, using too much I found my fish had trouble breathing. Now I don't bother using it at all, and if I did it'd be in a hospital tank that is well aerated.
tHEcONCH
And don't forget it kills Pencil fish!
Caper
Thanks for the help Sorry couldn't reply last night, having trouble with my internet  It's my "quarantine" tank (10 gallon). I only have 3 corys in it and Puff my goldfish. Puff had lost most of his tail quite some time ago. When I placed him and the other 2 goldfish in a 29 gallon tank his tail started to grow back. I placed him in the 10 gallon because I found one of the other goldies what looked like "nipping" him. Yesterday, I noticed that he had what appeared like a film over his eyes. Anyway, long story short I'm treating the tank with Melafix as this was all I had. I did a large water change & Spiderweb I did add bubble wall. On the Melafix bottle it does say you can use it for "eye cloud". Caper
jn
I'd keep an eye on it Caper.. is this the same fish that had red streaks in its tail? Could be a bacterial infection. If the melafix doesn't help you may need some Furan which should be available at your pet shop (or off the net from some nice canadian pet supply place! I think soemone recommended BigAl's or soemthing like that!) Handle the furan with care though (gloves etc!) it's pretty nasty.
Caper
Yes, this is the fish but the red streaks are gone. So far just 2 days of treatment with the Melafix, no change better or worse. Thanks all Caper
