davidb
would be quite tricky to make a wavemaker, I do know people who have done it but you need a decent powerhead which can handle being turned on and off frequently. Someting alot easier would be to make a carlson surge device (google it.)
Gannet
that looks intresting but not realy what i had in mind, a wave maker may be the wrong term. i was looking for something to put on a power head that moves the flow back and foward or up and down just so its not just one direction
davidb
find out how the hydor flow works and go from there?
Ira
The hydor flo and SCWD are the cheapest wavemakers around. The hydor flo, at least the ones I had, tend to jam up or strip their gears after a few months. SCWDs generally are pretty good though. I think best bang for the buck though is the Ocean Motion squirt. Takes a bit more plumbing but you can run it off any pump you want and it redirects the flow to 4 different outlets in a variety of patterns. davidb
I think gannet is talking internal Ira... the SCWD and Oceans motions are externally plumbed
evilknieval69
SCWD can be internally plumbed too
Ira
Yup, no reason a scwd can't be plumbed internally. An OM can't, but a bit more plumbing seems like more than a fair tradeoff for what you get.
