jolliolli
Does anyone have any suggestions for making the skimmer pump quiet. I have an Octopus NW-150 in sump skimmer and the pump for it produces a low hum (not due to vibration). I don't notice it too much but its going to drive my partner up the wall. wasp
Can try sitting the whole thing on some foam. The noise seems to come from the pump but can be amplified by whatever it's touching so some foam can reduce this. Even those foam type mouse pads can help. jolliolli
I read about the mouse pad thing, i thought it only helped the vibration problem not the hum?
reef
Most pumps hum or you get the loud air noise, I dont think much can be done with these pumps as they are cheap so you would expect some downsides. I found some of the Deltec pump also make a noise but its more of a vibration due to being enclosed. Maybe try putting a towel around the pump . might dampen the noise. I find you get used to the noise anyway.
