Fmxmatt
Hey all Finally got some Corals in the tank this weekend, but it would seem there is too much current as my frogspawn is getting battered around a wee bit. I'm running 3 powerheads (a 6025 & 6045 nanostream and the factory pump which I have facing the top of the water to disturb the surface) I've had to position the nanostreams facing towards the surface aswel. Would it be bad if I alternated the nanostreams? I.e in the morning have 1 side going, and 1 side off, then once i'm home from work, switch them over? I think because of the bowfront its creating alot of cross current and turning it into a small washing machine.... probably not that bad but after about an hour of playing round with the nanostream positions, I wasn't able to create a situation where it would work well.. Have a look at this pic, and feel free to make a suggestion as to where I could position the nanostreams? Cheers *edit* This pic was taken before corals were in
wasp
Yes you can turn the nanos on & off once daily I do that with one of mine. Sometimes there is an issue with them restarting though. Frogspawns like almost no flow so you will have to put it somewhere in the tank that is sheltered, both from flow, and not too much light either. Some of the other corals will like heaps of flow though so bear that in mind also.
tHEcONCH
You could probably create some random interference patterns by bouncing one off the bow at the front (point it directly at it so water is deflected either side) in combination with the other two. Fmxmatt
Oh so it'll be happy at the bottom? I thought they needed a bit of light so he's sort of halfway up the rock. Might have a play round again tonight. I dont think the skimmer is working 100% efficiently because its pickup is inside the filter box so may need to move that aswel
wasp
Oh so it'll be happy at the bottom? Yes that will be best, in a quiet type place with low light.
Fmxmatt
Will move it tonight Would my leather be happier higher up?
tHEcONCH
Yep - but it will grow faster too...
Fmxmatt
Ahhh grow my pretty (pretty ugly) thing! Out of the 5 corals i've got so far, the leather is probably the most interesting to watch. Waving that thread like shiz in the air then rubbing it on the little tiny polyp things and watching them take a mouthful and disappear hehe
