jayci
Why are black widows called black widows? Is it because the females are the nastiest fish in my tank? Any other black widow male comes within 8inchs of a female will get nailed by the female, I have even seen scales floating around after an attack. But stupid male always comes back for more. Got kribs, geophags, danios, BNs, cories and guppies in the tank.
Tsarmina
ummm, mine never attack that badly. if my males annoy the females too much they'll chase them off, but normally they school together. how many do you have? best kept in a group of 6 or more. coelacanth
they are called that because of the black colour (obviously) and the large fins being likened to the veil of a mourning widow.

AMAZONIAN
Hi All They used to be known a long time (40+years) ago as "BLACKAMOOR'S" owing to the very black rear half of the fish. I breed them often, both the "Common" and "Long Finned" and dont find then nasty at all.
