Oscars and Malawis might survive together, but neither is in it's ideal conditions.

I believe Oscars use the 'will it fit in my mouth?' rule about food, and they have pretty big mouths :o

Plecos, silver dollars, silver sharks and clown loaches are probably good tankmates as long as they are comparable sizes. Need a big tank for all them though

Cheers

Ian

Hey Oscarboy, can you please not use TXT english. Some of us OLDIES have trouble reading it.

I have been told that they will be all right with a PH of 7.5. Hahahaha my Oscar are not aggressive by my standards.

Yes the Oscar are meant to be aggressive, but i dont think mine are

I also have a grey fish with a lump on its head. He is not a lump head at all. I will upload a photo of it to find out if anyone can identify him.

my bad hahahaha yeah oscars will eat anything that fits in there mouth but... thats if my other big fish like sevrum don't stop them because my oscars are only about 10cm long maybe a little bigger.. i have had them all in the same tank for about 2 months now and have had no problems =D

The africans will survive and probably do alright in a ph over 7 but its probably not recommended to mix them all, I have seen it done and im sure it will keep getting done... Most people dont buffer the water in their grow out tanks and some people dont buffer their water at all so africans are getting bred and grown out in different conditions..

I think its upto what you want to do with your tank if you think it will look cool then give it a go :) There are differences in aggression and your oscar will probably grow big enough to eat most africans but they are pretty quick and good at getting out of the way so who knows..

How big is your tank?

How big are your clown loaches? Your oscars might only be 10cm now, but in 6 months time they'll be ~25cm where as you loaches might have grown 1-2".

I sure hope you're not planning on adding the convicts to that mix unless your tank is 1000L+. I wouldnt recomend convicts as feeders, get something a big 'dumber' like platties, convicts have pretty strong survival instincts. I had a 1" feeder con survive in a tank with a black aro, jag, green terror, jack dempsey, and a big fire eel and turned into a bossy 5" male with awesome finnage and a big lump on his head!
