jolliolli
Hey Guys. I have tried to sound proof my cabinet as much as possible, it houses the sump with skimmer and return pump, the pump rom the skimmer is very loud, and ive tried to cushion it but there is still a humming type noise from it. Just wondering if anyone has used dynamat or any other products like acoustic sounding proof matting? Dynamat seems very expensive. Cheers

Cheers Dynamat is designed to stop a panel resonating(ie car outer skin on door) It will help to a certain extent but IMO its money down the drain Tried close cell foam and polly all around the cabinet walls and floors? smidey
i store my filter wool bail in the filter cabinet & it makes a huge difference in the sound levels.
alanmin4304
There are only two ways to reduce noise and that is to put either absorbing material or very dense reflective material between you and the noise. Neither are very practical on a fish tank so it is best to try and design a quiet system in the beginning.
