paekakboyz
Hi All, I'm thinking of heading up the coast on sat to check out pet shops - I know that there has been good feedback about one in particular in pram... could anyone advise on good shops to visit and locations? thanks
Faran
The Pet House in pram is great. Good recommendations for this shop and fish. He attempts to only buy from certain wholesalers/importers to avoid disease so selection may be smaller than others but he makes up for quantity with quality. As with all pet shops observe your fish and watch for signs of disease before buying. Pet Corner in Porirua closed down though... A wee selection of goods and livestock. I think it was a franchise operation but definitely had a premium location so prices were above average. Pet Essentials in Porirua has coldwater fish but don't have any tropicals (as far as I know) and the girls in the shop know very little about them so don't think it'll expand soon. So selection is slim for the north city. A trip up to Palmy to visit Wet Pets is always a worthwhile trip.
paekakboyz
chur Blue, I know that pet corner at North City has just closed but I hadn't heard anything about the pram shops. I was sure I'd read some good things about a shop on the coast and was keen to check it out... I'll hit the phone book and make some calls. ben
Loricariidae
I haven't been to the 'Big C' for ages, but from my last trip (bout a year - 18 months ago) the petshop that is in Coastlands near Farmers has a fairly standard selection, nothing fancy or rare/expensive that I can recall. The Pet House is really cool though. Even if you're not planning on buying anything, it's definitely worth a visit for the giant plecos!
