firenzenz
Well nice to see plenty of talk about these beauties. but, seems to be lots of wishful thinking, ie:" it looks like some random fish I found on some web-forum, so it must be that". The other option: iThat it is a Hybrid that *looks* like something like a named fish on the net. even worse whenit is a single fish. This will get worse, more so if imports are tightened. Here are 4 fish that could all go as a yellow peacock, I have females for all but if I didn't....? We will see more hybrids around- even in shops unfortunately
peanut2110
Wow, they are all quite different... I like the last one - pretty colouring! Do you have other peacocks? Can you tell us what you have? I am setting up a display tank of male peacocks and other peaceful haps but I am not sure what we have access to here in NZ. I have found some awesome looking fish on overseas websites but I understand we have access to very few of these. Do you breed any yourself? ryanjury
Yeah agreed there are alot of hybrids around and alot of interesting Id's going around (a few selling on trademe at the moment). Best bet for peacocks to breed from is to buy all from the same batch directly from the wholesalers (make sure the shop doesn't put 2 species of peacocks in the same tank) or buy from the same trusted breeder who actually know's what they're talking about and hopefully brought the fish with a scientific name... And people who breed them have to ensure they dont mix peacocks/hap's at all I have 6 peacock species all in different tanks to ensure there is no possibility of producing hybrids. And loving your pics you seem to have alot of nice fish
addy
Hi there, Can you tell me what the Peacock behind the yellow one in the second pic is? I have one vertially indentical, and yes I know, it looks like so it must be!! :-? but I am trying to find out what exact species mine is and it might get me a bit closer. firenzenz
HI Addy It's a young Kadango male. 'Copadichromis Borleyi Kadango redfin'. Not best shot of him-you cant see in photot too well that his flanks are quite orange. Check out www.cichlidforum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1009. Or post a shot if you have one of it for an ID. ryanjury
Is this the fish your talking about Addy? http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/can-so ... 24242.html Because your one isn't a kadango if your talking about the same fish... firenzenz
No -not a Kadango that one, not a red shoulder either- I would go with the Maleri Red myself.
