puttputt
Two expensive pieces of equipment on my new tank packed up within a few weeks of setting them up out of the box. In both cases i've been delighted in the manner which the importers have honoured the warranties. 1). The aquamedic monster chiller unit stopped working. Jetski was the supplier, and on his word i sent to a local refrigeration company in Kerikeri, who refilled it with gas, fitted a proper valve to it (previously just crimped), pressure tested it etc. All these costs were totally covered with out hesitation. Thanks Steve. 2). Both my new 6200 streams packed up within 3-4 weeks of setting them up. Tunze admitted a fault with a bad batch of plastic. The importer is reef, whom I haven't always seen eye to eye with (yes I know, somewhat of an understatement.). I contacted Reef, and not only were both pumps replaced by new ones ex germany, but reef supplied me with brand new 6100s to cover in the interim period while the new ones got here. Better still, one of the new ones is the next model, the electronic controllable streams, which don't have the seperate driver box, and have a square transformer that also allows battery backup. Appreciate it Alois. It shows the benefit of buying local, and although I paid a bit more for the streams than some overseas internet sites, imagine the differculties I would have had given the above situation. HaNs
Did you buy directly from Reef?
puttputt
no, through HFF, reefs the importer, and dealt directly with me to remedy the faults.

tHEcONCH
On a similar note, I'd like to thank John at Organism in Christchurch for allowing me to rip the electonic ballast and bulbs out of his stock on credit after a small mishap at the weekend. Thanks John

tHEcONCH
I'd just like to say thanks to the Red Sea distributors who came through on the RSM cooling fan front - now I can go back to using my regular alarm clock!
JoeBlog
I'd just like to say thanks to the Red Sea distributors who came through on the RSM cooling fan front - now I can go back to using my regular alarm clock! What was your problem with the fans? Mine are INCREDIBLY loud to the point that I just planned on ditching them and bought a oversized chiller to compensate. I had previously asked John a few times to see what the Red Sea rep could do since I read on other threads that they were replacing them with quieter versions in UK and US. Unfortunately, I never heard anything back.

I had previously asked John a few times to see what the Red Sea rep could do since I read on other threads that they were replacing them with quieter versions in UK and US. Unfortunately, I never heard anything back. Mine were very loud at startup. After about 10 minutes of clattering they would settle into a loud grind, before finally quieting down to a deafening roar. Inside the lid was full of plastic dust. The new ones are much quieter at startup and normal operation. Interestingly, they are labeled 'Red Sea' as opposed to the generic green Chinese made sticker on the old one, so they are defnitely a different unit. I e-mailed Petware direct and claimed warranty, heard nothing, but replacements turned up at the shop a week later.

tHEcONCH
Another big thanks to the RSM guy in Christchurch for supplying a new timer free of charge.
wilson
did you break something again
tHEcONCH
The main cog of the timer has worn its teeth off in three spots - best quality Chinese made, eh? At least the replacement is a German manufactured one, so hopefully made out of plastic rather than cheese. That said, it is slightly taller and fouls the shroud, so I had to make some little spacers. RSM's are a great concept, but some of the components are complete crap. At least the distributor is doing the right thing.
