Adrienne
This is a really dumb question but how big are krib fry ( wanting to know what sized mesh I'm going to need over my filter intake -cf1200) to stop any going up it. ryanjury
Mesh is probably a bad idea they will still get sucked too the mesh and get killed that way, Id either bury the intake in a pot of gravel (too large to go up the filter) or stick one of those round sponge filter or internal filter media things around it I think Krib fry are relatively large they seem to breed well and I think alot of people raise them on crushed up flake. Adrienne
Okay, they aren't spawning yet but have bred before so am expecting it fairly shortly. I'll put a sponge over it. Thanks
herefishiefishie
Usually by the time krib fry leave their home, they have good enough swimming ability to stay out of trouble. But that does depend on the water current in the tank too & if the cave is next to the intake. Frenchy
coelacanth
I agree with herefishiefishie. The fry stay in the cave until well capable of swimming, so unless the intake is quite strong then they should be fine when they do start venturing round the tank
herefishiefishie
How big is the tank & set up? Frenchy
Adrienne
its just over 100 litres but its pretty much square. cf1200 filter. Rocks and driftwood. Has a pair of kribs, 3 tiny plecos and one small surplus fighter in it.
Adrienne
Also i was told not to put much gravel in it so only has a couple of smallish piles of mostly fruit salad sized gravel.
